Please respond to the video we had viewed this morning as part of our P4C lesson. Some of the big questions raised include 1) Do animals deserve to die? 2) Do animals feel pain? 3) What are rights and do animals have their rights? 4) What is cruelty? 5) Are we contributing to animal cruelty by eating meat?

I think its very cruel for the farmers to do that because animals have feelings too and they can also feel pain!
I think that the video is very touching and animals don't deserve to die!!They are still living things!!People should treat them better.Just think we are the animals and we are going to be killed alive......!!
i think they are cruel too because although we eat them, they are living things too and they have a life like us.
err.. i'm Jiajie.. erm i feel that it's not really cruel to slaughter animals for the food they provide because it's part of the food chain. It's like if we dont take the meat from animals, we'll have to eat vegetables. Eating vegetables all our lives will not give us the energy to do certain things.
I think that the United Nations should form an organisation which prevents creulty to animals and fine those farmers which torture their animals.
I think it was very cruel of them to kill the animals.Animals will feel the pain but they do not know why they are in pain.
I feel that we should treat animals the same as we treat ourselves.

Hello i'm Daniel.I feel that slaughtering animals are very very very CRUEL!!You could just imagine you being slaughtered to DEATH.I think animals have the rights to live.In my opinion,I think animals will evolve and maybe,they might take over humans and slaughter us the same way we slaughter them!So from now on, I think I'll just stck to veggies.=)
well if some people think that i'm cruel or something, i also feel that the farmers in the video were very cruel too. Imagine if you wanted hamburgers. And your parents give u some disgusting vegetables instead. You decide not to eat it but ur parents force you with equipments like electric rods to eat the food.(EXAMPLE!)
The farmers did not put themselves in the animals' shoes and they did not care for the animals even that they are injured!!! Dieases from the animals will spread very fast!It will affect us toooo!!! Aren't they heartless?

I feel that after watching the video, I think that killing animals is a cruel thing to do. I think that we could also survive by eating vegetarian food.
So I wish that all the farmers in the world... please do not kill the animals in a cruel way. Anyway, animals like hens and cows could be useful eg: laying eggs, producing milk and transport.=P
I think animals have their feeling too.As my mother always say,every beings have feelings(etc.hungry full) I think cruelty means be greedy and being cruel to others.But i don't think we should stop eating meat,just wait for the animals to die??

I think that slaughtering animals is very cruel as they are so innocent. We must respect them. If we continiue eating and kiling animals, we will soon have no more chicken meat and we must survive on vegtables.

Hi! I'm Carine... Actually, i myself is a vegetarian so i know how hard is it to adapt to the food. To reply to Mr Ang's Q, I think that animals do not deserve to die because they are living things, like us. Living things are still living, you cannot torture them so cruelly... Lives are precious, we must not ruin their lives. If somone ruins your life you will not like it too, right?
I thought the farmers would not allow those people to take the video they took.And I think the farmers were forced to let those people take the video.But i'm still a little curious.DOES ANIMALS FEEL PAIN???!!!
Hello,I'm Clare.I think that animals is not deserve to die as we are mammals that means we are also part of animals.But sometimes we have to kill it as we have no other choice.Example like if we are in a jungle,we can't find any vegetables,we only can find animals.So we can only hunt for animals to eat.
Although I find very cruel,I feel that we have the right to slaugther the animals for food as our body needs the nutritions from the meat.But I will say that the farmers are going too far by tortureing the animals so much.
I think we should not be so cruel to them. They can feel the pain like us too! I think we should eat more vegetables and cut down on MEAT!

Well of course the animals feel the pain, after all, they're still living things. We can all see and hear how the pig squealed when the cruel farmer snipped of the pig's ear.
The animals will feel alot of pain.They are also living things too!It is so CRUEL!I think the cows will feel the most pain,the farmers slice their throat.So sad

after watching the video,i think that we should treat them better as if they were humans.slaughtering is not the only way to get food from chickens we should let them decide to die not.

I think we still have enough time to save the animals not to be killed. If animals like dodo were killed to extiction for food, I think we have to save them as we could not be able to see them again.
My suggestion is that we will eat for 6 days and for the 7th day we will not eat meat so that we will help to decrease the number of animals being killed!
I agree with Hui yee because when we're already going to slaughter the animals, why bother to beat them into a pulp? It's not funny or entertaining in any way, and i doubt those farmers are saddistic. I'm still wondering why they beat the animals up so badly when the animals are gonna die in a few days.
I don't think that animals deserve to die and I think they feel pain. Rights are rules which allow and disallow human beings or animals to do or not to do a certain thing. Cruelty is a character which shows that one who do bad deeds. I don't think we are contributing tocreulty by eating meat because we need the nutrients from meat and we cannot go without the nutrients.
I know we need meat to survive,and i know how i feel to not eat meat as I myself is a vegetarian.But i think we can eat meat once or twice per month right????

I think that the farmers are so cruel to pen the animals in such crampy and squeezy place as they would get insane and hoping for freedom. They should put them in a open space so that animals can at least have fresh air and freedom. the farmers should at leasttreat the animals illness and cure them.
I have once when to a farm and the farmer let the animals roll abought freely.

The animals that are sick wre not cured,this will spread more diseases and more animals will be sick.The farmers working only thinks about money,they do not care a bit for the animals.Although some farmers feel guilty,others do not!!!!I feel very sorry for the animals as they are slaughted for humans to eat.

After watching the video, I felt really scared especially the part where they burn the pigs alive! How creul were they! I think that animals does not deserve to die, we can always eat vegetables instead of those poor animals.We humans do not know how painful it is to be skinned and burned alive. The animals have their rights to live, we cannot just kill those animals just for us humans to live. Yes,I know that the famers wants to earn a living by selling those animals but they can always sell other things.We humans have to sometimes give respect to those animals. We not only have to give our friends, teachers and parents respect but animals too! I think we as a human should pity the animals not eating animals!We should think of others first than to think of ourselves first!We should take care of animals instead of skinning them, burning them alive,chop off their teeth!What if these things happen to them, won't they feel the pain that the animals had gone through.

Well Xavierlyn, if we dont eat meat and eat eggs almost everyday, do u know that it's very unhealthy to alot of eggs? And, an egg is a living thing too. Once the chicken produces the egg, the chick will be inside the egg. They stop the egg from growing and we boil/fry them. So, eating eggs will still be the same as eaint meat.
I think that the farmers do this is also no choice as they were just earning a living.
I will eat less meat and eat eat more vegetables.Vegetables is also good for your health.
It is really very cruel.. I think that now even though it is just a video for advertisement to let us buy their food, we should actually belive and not believe the video.. Believe as the video really teached us all to cut down on meat, right? And we were all so scared out of our wits and it was very true that it was really CRUELTY?? Not believe as how could people film them in act!? And if the person was filming, people will have caught him/her. But my advice to everyone is try not to think about it!!

we shouldn't kill animals for meat as and when we like ,they are meant for leaving.if you were a meat-lover,would you kill any animal and eat them?no right.though meat is an important source in our world,we must still save it,like we do for electricity,water and fire.its not fun to torture animals as you will have a guilty(killing/murdering)conscience.faris may be a person who loves to eat meat but he also have to eat some veggies.vegetables rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

If I wre one of the animals thre,I would rather die than live.I know that it is not nice to live in there,judging from the video.
we, humans will feel the pain when we are living in such a crowded condition and only little food to eat.

I think the way humans treat the animals is too cruel. We should at least wait for the animals to die before killing them. They don't deserve to die at all even if they are food to us as it is not fair to them at all. Even though they don't know what is going on, they too have feelings. There are many examples to show animals have feelings. Example, some dogs whins when there is a storm and it shows that they are afraid. We must never ill-treat them as we don't have the rights to do so. We cannot just kill them like that. Even if we are much bigger than them, we still don't have the rights to decide whether they must die or not. It is simply unfair. What if one day they are 20 times bigger than us? Do they have the rights to eat us? NO. It is exactly the same thing as us killing them. See? Just because we are bigger than animals, we should never EVER kill them for food and even if we did we should at least wait for them to die. Always remember, it is simply unfair to them and humans don't have the rights to kill them just because we are bigger and far cleverer.
I think that the farmers can sell the new-borns after their adult have died(peacefully).Can it be possible?

I have a way of thinking from last time, i think it is easier to defeat a monster than a human. WHY? Because a human have different faces, but a monster do not. Or... should i say... humans is more cruel than a MONSTER!!! I think those animals do not deserve to die, but we slaugter them for food. Without them, we do not have food. I enjoyed reading all your responses. I think the important thing to remember is that we do everything in moderation, including eating. Do not overindulge in a particular activity. As for whether you choose to go vegetarian or remain an omnivore, the choice is still yours. In a P4C class, you come to your own conclusion finally, and make your choice after much thinking, and listening to your friends' opinions.
The animals don't even deserve to die.They need to die just for our sake and I felt very sad about that.They are just poor and innocent creatures.They don't even know that they need to die.I felt pity for them.Those poor creatures...They are not meant to die.So sad..Hope we can save it!
How can those heartless farmars kill the animals.Would'nt they felt shamefull of their behaviors.If they don't feel shameful,that means they are heartless,right?
